Ventnor is ideally located on the south side of the Isle of Wight with very close proximity to good fishing grounds. We offer a selection of trips depending on your preference and experience ranging from mid channel wrecks to fishing the nearby plaice grounds and pinnacles. Our vessel is an 8.5m Cheetah Catamaran, renowned in the commercial fishing world for their excellent stability and seahandling capabilities. Apply this to angling and you can spend more time fishing without even noticing the sea state.

We cater for self organised groups of greater than 4. The price depends on the nature of trip you require and if any equipment is required. Please phone us to discuss your requirements on 01983 852398

Our Cheetah Catamaran ‘Free Spirit V’ was built in spring 2010. She replaces ‘Free Spirit IV’ which is now a fishing boat, working alongside the rest of the commercial fishing fleet from Ventnor Haven.

‘Free Spirit’ is 8.5m long and was built by Cheetah Marine at OceanBlue Quay next to the Haven.

Cheetah Catamarans have been designed and built in Ventnor for the last 20 years. The original design was a 6m fishing boat which worked from Ventnor beach and surfed up the beach everyday to unload the catch of crab and lobster. The design was admired by other fishermen and soon orders were put in for bigger models and more specialist applications. Cheetah Catamarans are now working all around the world from hydrographic survey boats monitoring sea level rise and climate change to harbour and coastal patrol, remote location craft to passenger carrying and leisure cruising.

‘Free Spirit’ completed in April 2010 is powered by two monster 135hp Honda Outboard Engines and promises an exciting and exhilarating ride at top speeds. The craft complies to the Maritime Coastguard Agency Code of Practice, Category 3 and is licensed to carry 12 passengers and 2 crew.

Cheetah Marine ensure that all boats are constructed to extremely high standards. Modern construction processes and hi-tech materials guarantee that all Cheetah Catamarans are structurally extremely strong. The catamaran configuration with two hulls provides a very wide stable deck which won’t lean to one side with load. The design of the hulls has been developed over the years to handle extremes of sea conditions – offering you a very comfortable smooth ride.

Wheelchair access is straight forward. ‘Free Spirit’ has been fitted with a side door, enabling easy access from the pontoon to the deck for wheelchairs or people with more limited mobility. The door opens onto a large, clear deck with lots of room to manoeuvre.
